Carters Lake Report
#1
*************** Fishing report for Carters lake ***************

1/14/02

The lake is at full pool and the water temp is 50 degrees
STRIPERS:Good, not much change since last month.we are not catching big numbers of fish, but the ones we are catching are really nice size averaging 12 to 14 lbs.and up..look for the concentrations of bait fish and stripers in the back half of the major creeks and the Coosawatee river.
the top water bite is still fair, find the big concentrations of bait
fish in the area's mentioned above and you will find fish feeding on the surface early morning and late afternoon. the redfins, Zara spooks and chugbugs are working and the old white bucktail jig is always worth a few cast also.
after the top water bite dies go to the live baits such as shad, shiners and trout fished on flat lines with a balloon and free lines 80 to 100 ft behind the boat early, and when the sun gets high put these same baits on down lines and drop them to the depth that you are marking the fish on your graph.

SPOTTED BASS: The bite is begining to slow a little for the spots as water temps aproach the high forty's but limits of reallly nice fish are still being caught all over the lake.
but the best bet is the tributaries on the northern end of the lake, they are holding good concentrations of bait fish right now and there are lots of big spots there feeding on them.
the most consistant pattern has been finesse worms in the green pumpkin and watermelon seed colors and jigs, in the brush piles and rock ledges 15 to 35 ft. deep and slow is the key YOU CAN'T FISH TOO SLOW.
Now is the time for the BIG magnum spotted bass on Carters, the fishing should stay good until the water temps drop below 50 degrees.

for more info or to book a trip
contact us at 770-735-2625
email: jeff.guide@tds.net
or visit us on the web at
http://www.carterslakefishing.com

--
