Welcome to the site 300win. There are plenty of big browns in Jordanelle, the bass guys catch them all the time while fishing for bass. How big are you looking to catch?

Thanks for the welcome. I have not fished for a long time and I have gotten the fish bug so I bought a boat and I am looking for a place to fish for my favorite trout (Browns) I have read some old post and it sounds like a place to try. I am wondering if there are still a lot of big browns in the lake or if they have started to get fished out. Also any advised would be appreciated since I am new to the boat fishing game. Thanks

!0 pounders are not as common but there are likely a few left in the lake. Bassrods says he catches big browns all the time but there are a few guys that troll for them with some success but they don't talk about them much. One guy that use to post about them all the time was Hooterpatrol, but he passed away a year or two back. I wish I could be of more help but I don't fish Jodanelle much. Try the search function above for some past reports.

I heard about a guy who catches the big ones up there by tapping his lures and downrigger balls on the bottom. Sounds sketchy but I guess it works. Hey Bassrod lets see some of these big 10 pounders you Bass guys pull in ..there is nothing better than Brown Trout Porn.!!!

Wildcat said it best, put in the time and you will be rewarded. Last year was a good year with several big browns and cutts. The BIG browns I've had follow my lure to the boat but have yet to catch one over 7lbs. It's exciting to just see them.

Its all about putting in the time like many have said already!! dont be affraid to tweek lures and try new stuff but jordanell is deffenatly a lure taker lake there is alot of growth (trees and brush) that still remain in that lake that will eat your 20$ lures and it gets pricey and down right pisses any man off in a hurry i have had many 200$ days up there [sly] dont tell the wife though she would kill me!!

last trip up to the Jord, we caught a 21 incher that had a 9 inch bow in its belly! So dont be afraid to throw big stuff! Jord is full of monsters! Gotta put in the time, money and effort and you will be greatly rewarded! I will be hitting the jord as soon as the ice is clear and the water is a tad bit warmer

Not as many big browns in Jordanelle as use to be, too many of them have been kept..

The biggest I got was 32 1/2" the picture was in the paper a few years back, last year one was caught that was just over 20 lb by one other fisherman..

You should get a few from 18" to 28" but over that that gets tough..
Just not the food and the bigger one are kept now..

Wow those are some nice fish thanks for sharing. I would love to catch some fish like that. Are there any other lakes in Utah to try and catch browns like that?
