Last winter I decided I was going to make a video fly fishing for carp. I never made a video before and thought it would be fun and it was. I loaded up memory cards all summer. On the water, on a board, with a camera, a paddle, a fly rod, and who knows what else in my hands at times led to literally hours of horrendously worthless footage to sort through. This is what I came up with.

Sweet Video! I just got a GoPro Hero II and can't wait to use it tomorrow. What kind of camera were you using?

Hey flyfishing fool, I've found that you'll get some out of focus on the gopro underwater. There's a fix you can buy from a company in Idaho Falls. Do a google search for snake river prototyping. Makes a huge difference w/ the water shots. Hopefully I'll get enough footage this summer to live up to lucabrasi's ability!

Thank you. I am glad it has some entertainment value.
I used a Kodak Playsport. Pretty cheap but for the money pretty darn good. Super portable and easy to use. More wide angle would have been nice and it is non existent for night and also has a tough time with low light/dusk. The Go Pro is pretty sweet I hear and you should be happy with it.

oh yeah, something I would do different. Most definately go through your footage and edit/junk the trash when you can and don't just save it up all up.

Great video! Your set up looks like a lot of fun. I bet a few of those really gave you a ride. Nice fish!
How is the paddle board in the wind?
How is the paddle board in the wind?
It can be quite frustrating in the wind. The good thing is that where I go lots the wind will be at my back on the way back to shore and I can get away from it sometimes. If it is to strong I can't launch.
With it at your back it is way fun. An absolute blast for sure. I am going to do the shuttle thing at least once this summer. I think I got a drop and pick up spot dialed in for this watching the likely patterns all summer.
I took some footage of going downwind where you see how much ground you cover but it really was kind of boring to put in this one. I am going to make another and will include some of that in it. This board will take a windsuf mast and sail so I will probably play with that at some point.
The fish do take you for a ride. That was some of my original thoughts, "I am going to get some video of one of this big pigs taking me for a ride" but the footage isn't all that good. There is one clip in there you can see it some. Mostly not enough percepective to really see what is happening.
