Hello everyone. Checking in to say "hi" - as I am new to this forum.
I moved to Idaho Falls a couple of years ago and, although I enjoy all kinds of fishing, sight fishing for carp with a fly rod is my favorite way to spend a day. I grew up in south Florida and have a lot of saltwater experience. When it gets too cold here, I usually take some trips to warmer destinations to fly fish for saltwater flats fish. I also enjoy tying flies.
Still fairly new to the area and would like to meet some like-minded people.
I am attaching a couple of pictures of places I have fished for reference.

Welcome. I also love chasing carp on the fly. The fight they put up is pretty hard to beat.

Welcome! Almost time to head to Blackfoot Reservoir so chase the carp...I'm going to try to do some recon tomorrow so I'll let you know.
Great pics!- thx for sharing and I too look forward to your future reports. Carp are my favorite fish to chase in early spring-fly rod only way to go!

So its kinda off the subject a little but what kinda flies does one use for carp? I would like to try it out. Could someone help steer me in the right direction? thanks!

First I want to say welcome to the board, but I echo this question: What flies DOES one use for carp? I've yet to land anything on my fly rod and any tips would be useful. Who cares if it tastes good so long as I end up sweating and swearing while I'm battling the big one? [fishin]

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome.
There are a lot of great flies for catching carp. My favorites include Clouser's swimming nymph, Jean-Paul Lipton's "Carp Crack," head stand worms (basically a San Juan worm with dumbbell eyes), Crawfish Candy and Simi Seal Leeches. Think fuzzy flies with rubber legs in darker colors. If it looks like a damsel or dragonfly nymph, even better.
If anyone is interested, I will be tying carp flies at the Expo on Friday the 20th from 3:00-6:00 at Table #25.
Flygoddess - I will definitely stop by and say "hi" on Saturday morning.
