broken rod :( (a must read)
#1
so my girlfriend bought me fly rod for christmas from a company called 'allen fly fishing'. just my luck, a few weeks before the start of general season i broke the tip and definitely dont have the funds to buy a new rod. well before my girlfriend beat me to the punch last chrismas i did some research on this company and was getting ready to buy my outfit from them myself. not many people knew much about them but the people who did have their products had great reviews for them, well this is my turn to post on them. as soon as i got home from my 'accident' i sent them an email thru their website. not 5 min later Justin (the owner of the company) replied back. i told him that general season was about to begin and my family and i were planning an early trip to go fishing in two weeks. unfortunately they dont have any replacement tip sections for atleast a week, but he is offering me to use a demo rod until i can get the new tip in. im pretty new to fly fishing and cant speak much for other companies or fly shops, etc. but i cant think of any other company that would be as generous. above all that when asked how much the tip section is going to cost me, justins main concern was getting me back on the water. from the few reviews i read on this company when i was first looking to purchase their gear this is typical of them, very customer oriented and willing to bend over backwards for us.

not trying to make them seem like a god company but just had to state how impressed i am with them and their equipment. they arent just a faceless company, they are real people developing great products and incredible prices.

sorry for making this post so long and bragging about them so much but just saying if you havent looked at this company before you might just want to consider it.

There a great company . When you buy a reel try a Allen. Price verses quality there the best around.

they just updated their website about a month or two ago and now include a 'deal of the week'. they also have a live chat if u want any tech advise on their products, and if they aren't online u can shoot them an email. I did that today when I was asking about a replacement tip section and like I said in the original post I got a response in like 5-10 min from the owner

Waiting to see when they will have some more #2 trout reel in the gunmetal, been unavailable for awhile, but I am in no rush.

The way I see it for that price it is cheaper to buy there reel then to buy an extra spool for a ross or lamson reel

Isn't it nice when a company operates by the Golden Rule. [Smile]

They sound like a great company.

I haven't dealt with them personally but know lots of folks that speak very highly of Jason and his products. Flygoddess herself is a fan I believe.
