Public Hearing On Proposed Marine Aquaculture Operation

DURHAM, N.H. -- The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on a proposed marine aquaculture application for licensing on Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at 9:00 a.m., at Fish and Game's Region 3 Office, 225 Main Street, Durham, N.H. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and comment on the proposed aquaculture plan.

At the hearing, Michael Chambers, of NH Sea Grant and the University of New Hampshire, will be heard regarding his application for a proposed aquaculture operation, which will involve float-caged rainbow trout and blue mussel. The proposed location is offshore Newcastle Beach - Lat. 43.04.365/Long. 70.42.380, at a depth of about 25 feet.

Detailed plans for the proposed aquaculture operation are available for public review at http://www.fishnh.com/marine and at the Fish and Game Region 3 Office in Durham.

Written comments on the proposed licenses may be submitted at the hearing or thereafter until June 12, 2012. Written comments may be: (1) mailed to the Executive Director, New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. 03301; (2) faxed to the Department at 603-271-1438; or (3) emailed to bruce.smith@wildlife.nh.gov.
