My best day of bass fishing so far
#1
Took my niece and my nephew who had never caught a fish before out fishing yesterday afternoon to the Snake River near Murtaugh. Both of their first casts had fish on, and they both swam strait to the surface and spit the hooks out. Had two more bites in the next 15 minutes and then nothing for probably a half hour, at which point my niece and nephew were ready to go home because we weren't going to catch any fish here.

I talked them into just going back to the van to get a drink, and while they were gone I caught bass on 9 of 10 casts. When they got back I got them both into quite a few fish, and we ended up having a blast. We caught 21 Smallmouth's total most of them fairly small, but several in the 14"-15" range. Forgot the camera or I would post some pictures.

Fun stuff! Good job on taking the kids out. A few of those smallmouth will make lifetime fishermen out of both of them.

Ya I think they both had a very good time. I've never had bass fight like some of these did before. Many of them were jumping completely out of the water multiple times. Don't know if the river bass fight harder than those in lakes in general, or I just ran into a really feisty group of fish, but it was fun!
