Nevada Striper Club Results(JUNE OPEN)
#1
Hello Everyone,

The tournament is over. We had a great turn out. As i stated before the weather was hot and so was the fishing. The only two BFT members with any courage was the moderators Whizzle and Erawk. They were up to the challenge.

WELL IT PAID OFF FOR ONE OF THEM[Smile][Smile][Smile][Smile][Smile]

Congratulations to JON AKA Whizzle for having an outstanding bag of fish. The Whizzle took first place with four fish that weighed 13.5 lbs. He also took home the big fish honors with a 8 pound pig.

I stated in another post that 40 dollars and 4 fish could earn you over 1000.00 dollars.
Whizzle won $1000.00 for first place.
Little over $200.00 for big fish.
Won a nice AC plug in the raffle.
Received a signed banner that was hung in Bass Pro Shop with his results.
Hopefully meet some new friends.

The Whizzle has already entered his fish in the 2012 spring fish off if you would like to see a picture of the fish.

Myself and the NSC are glad you guys Participated and hope you will return to fish more often as you schedule permits.

I would like to have a rematch next year and maybe we will put something on the side next time.

Thanks for having us, Stripercraze. We had a great time and found a new respect for the NSC tourney anglers. It was a pretty brutal weekend, all tolled. I bought 22lbs of sardines and we chummed like madmen all through the fist night for NO FISH! We picked up a few bass at grey light on lures and one striper on the troll saturday morning. We finally caught some stripers when IamtheSMF invited us over near his boat where they were putting on a striper clinic.[Smile] We boated 3 fish to their 15 in the time we fished next to them. They were showing us how it's done. Thank you, IamtheSMF.

We went out there with a strategy to win, but it was quite the surprise when Whizzle did win. I can't help but to take a little credit for the win. I mean, I was there hahaha [Wink]. Even as we drove to weigh in, we didn't expect the results as they turned out. I'm really proud of the fact that we formulated a strategy, implemented it and succeeded with it. What a great time.

I'd definitely like to participate again in the future and I'd encourage other BFT members to participate as well.

I was trying to post some pics but they're showing upside down. I'll get them on here later.

(I started writing this earlier so excuse any repeated info)

Erawk and I participated in the Nevada Striper Club June Open tournament this past weekend. It was my first Striper Club tourney, and I had a blast.

First, I have to start by saying that the Striper Club is one hell of a group. They put together a great tourney, with great prizes, great competition, and an amazing, free barbeque that could have fed 200. The camaraderie in this group is superb - everyone was more than willing to share information on spots and techniques, and Iamthesmf (Toby) even let us anchor right next to his boat when he was on the fish.

These guys know what they are doing too. Some boats pulled in literally HUNDREDS of fish in a matter of about 2 days. If you want to learn how to catch stripers, go to some of the Club meetings and ask!

Erawk and I started in the Boulder Basin on Friday night . He brought 22lbs of sushi grade sardines and 20 lbs of dry ice. We chummed til my boat was covered in fish pieces, and we didn't get one single bite from 8:30pm til 6am. It was rough. We moved a bit and just never found fish. Come sun-up we were doing well catching largemouth and smallmouth, but that wasn't going to do us any good. We trolled up a small striper on a crankbait, and then found Toby and caught a couple more bait fishing next to him. It was about 9:30am at that point, and we left to catch up on some sleep.

I went to work Saturday night, and we were back on the water at 4am Sunday morning. We weren't happy with our success in the Boulder Basin, so we took the drive to Echo and launched in the dark. With the bait plan abandoned for the most part, we set out trolling lines and started covering water. We picked up a few standard size fish trolling deep diving cranks, but as the sun came up, the stripers went deep.

We were marking fish suspended in 35-70 feet of water, so we added some lead and sent our crankbaits down to them! It worked, and that big fish was the next to hit the deck. We landed another 6 or 7 fish on the ghetto-downrigger-setup before we called it a day at 10am and headed for weigh-in.

The whole thing was awesome. I will most definitely be participating in more Nevada Striper Club tournaments, and I will become a dues paying member before the next event.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CLUB!

Thank you guys for the opportunity to fish - you are a great group of fishermen (and women).

[font "Calibri"]We started fishing on Friday night and only had 3 fish. Saturday morning we had 30 saw the Whizzle and gave some insider information. We left for home and some relief from the heat around 9am (you can do that in the NSC) and returned for the night bite. We got back to jet ski’s and lots of boats. Started fishing around 5:30-6pm and hooked up right away, the bite ended around 10:30pm. Sunday morning was off the charts, we tossed back over 100 fish that were 18”-20”. After sorting our 80 or so fish we put our 4 fish bags together and started the weigh-in. For our boat my Sister took 4th, brother-in-law 6th and I had 8th.[/font]
[font "Calibri"]Thanks for coming to the tournaments guys, you are welcome anytime (BFTers also) [/font]

Whizzle and Erawk,

Great Job guys! It was a great event. And you took the money to boot! Monthly tourneys is our thing and we hope to see you again soon. In the mean time, please stop by Bass Pro on the weekend of July 7th and 8th for a burger or dog so we can bolster our funds to complete the season. If this cookout fundraiser works out, we will do another one in the fall and raise the other half of our monetary requirement for the year. We have to get them kids some huge trophies and prizes this year for all the hard work they put in on the Lake. It also means better raffle prizes and picnics for everyone. The overall great experience is something we want to provide every month and it takes money to be the best club in the state. Hope to see you all at our fundraiser cookout!
