Plan for the Biggest Fly Fishing Weekend of the Summer…anywhere in the world of fly fishing. August 3-7. Summerfest, Anglers Market, Jubilee Weekend, The Hardy Cup Bamboo Rod Casting Competition, and now two more : 1. The Reelsmithing Workshop with Michael Hackney and 2. Bamboo Rod Making Workshop with Hardy ‘makers’ Tom Moran and Calum Gladstone
Friday August 3, from 10 AM –early afternoon. -- An opportunity to make your own fly reel in a Reelsmithing Workshop with The Eclectic Angler, Michael in the Paul Dahlie Education Center.
No previous metalworking experience is required to take the workshop -- just a desire to make a fly reel and willingness to use a little elbow grease and get a little dirty. All necessary tools are provided. Participants will build one of Michael’s newest, and attractive reels. The 3-inch diameter reel will feature a click drag system, hold 90 feet of 4-weight fly line, and handle 25 yards of backing. Participants will receive a “Ported Aluminum Reel” kit and walk out with a functioning reel. Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity.

“Inside A Split Bamboo Machine Shop” A two day workshop designed for every level of interest in bamboo rodmakeing from Enthusiasts to expert.

Join Hardy World Class English Rodmakers Tom Moran and Calum Gladstone and collaborating US support team including CFFCM’s Rodmaking Workshop Coordinator Mike Canazon and Trustee Tim Abbott with others to explore the inner workings of a Bamboo Rodmakers Machine Shop.

Detailed demonstrations will accompany each component and following topic: 1.Cane selection: Traditional resources,Node matching (volumes and constancy) and proper storage. 2.Splitting the cane: tools and techniques 3.Filing and compressing nodes 4.Rough Milling 5.Taper Milling 6. Flame or blond? 7.Gluing 8.Finishing
A special presentation on the use of mills with detailed photos and video of the mills used at Hardy’s and those of the USA, including a side seminar about taper control and setting up from graphs to actual taper cutting
Discussion on each of these topics will be paced by the questions and interests of the specific group of attendees.

Highlights will include the history, comparison and casting of both the original CC de France and the Centenary Limited Edition released this year.

Pre Registration Required, Limited to 20, 2 day fee $225 includes family style meals Monday- Lunch & Dinner, Tuesday- continental Breakfast & Lunch.
