Any body been to Oneida lately to see if the ramp is still in the water? It's gettin hard to launch around here lately. If you can get in a lake, and can find them. try a Panther Martin High Lake Troll pop gear 1/2 oz. on mono with a worm. It,s the only thing we can find that works lately. They are getting like chicken teeth to find in stores. Dave's in Soda still had some today, but they were 1.5 oz.Even Cabelas and Sportsmans in Mordor were out...Bob

My dad just stopped in at Oneida yesterday and it is full to the top. They are blasting water in and out. You wont have a problem getting in.

Wow, I can't beleive they filled Big O after blasting the entire runoff down the river this spring! What did they do pipe water in from the Great Lakes or something? The entire West is dry as a popcorn fart.
Oh and about those Panther Martin popgears - they have them at the CAL Ranch in Logan. I think I'll stay away from Mordor. After seeing all the trouble Frodo and Sam went through to get there, it just doesn't seem worth it. No matter how much killer tackle they got.

popcorn fart - that's a good one. I'll keep that up there with the one about the spouse getting mad for too much fishing and "cutting off your jig and kicking you in the tackle box".
Funny - was thinin the same thing - I always see them there, various flavors. I like matching the minnow spinner or plain spinner to the color of the big blades. Gets that little wounded one following the school - in sync!
Didn't know there really was a Mordor - not sure how far it is from Logan, but that last part of the hike is a doozy. Just watch out for spiders and orcs. They've got those in Idaho, don't they? <jk!> [:p]

I have mixed emotions about the dam... I honestly dont think it would harm the cutthroat like they think it would.. But it would rid of some.good camping spots. I think that they are to hung up on the.cutthroat as that seems to.be there only argument.. It would be nice to see condie twinlakes strong arm and treasurton. To stay full longer.and if they were to dam it that would mean more water for them places. It would effect irigation at all. I see more good then harm in the dam.. And the good out weighs the bad. That stretch of water does have a very very small population of cutthroat. But there are many other much larger populations of them in other spots on the bear.. I think in the past 10+ years ive fished the narrows I only recall catching maybe a dozen or so cutthroat.. Regardless dam or no dam ill fish there.

I have mixed feelings about it as well. I like being able to catch smallmouth, walleye, carp and several species of trout in a river environment, but with all the high flows, it's pretty much impossible to fish much of the year. The scenery is impressive too, but it seems like the area also gets pretty trashed which certainly detracts from the beauty. I do wish that they would update their canals from open, earthen canals, to closed pipelines. That would really cut down on wasted water and they might not even need the dam if they did that. As long as they don't go draining lakes again, I don't feel all that strongly either way.

this release from the water board is a big blow for the damn. The next step to prevent the damn is to get the "narrows" set aside as a senic river. I believe there will be groups pushing for this, so we arnt fighting this battle for the next 20 years, or so our children arnt fighting it far beyond.
