Lake Pueblo Opens the Rock Canyon Swim Beach for the Summer Season
#1
PUEBLO, Colo. - The Rock Canyon Swim Beach at Lake Pueblo State Park will open for the 2012 summer season on Friday, May 25. The swim beach will be open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursdays through Mondays. It will be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. It will close for the season on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 3. The beach will be open on the Fourth of July, even though the holiday lands on a Wednesday this year. It is free to enter the swim beach area, but a valid park pass is required on every vehicle that enters the park.

The Rock Canyon Swim Beach boasts a sandy beach area as well as cool grassy spots to relax the day away. Pack a picnic lunch for the whole family and enjoy shaded picnic tables, barbeque grills (bring your own charcoal) and lots of space for the kids to play. Restrooms and showers are also available. There are no lifeguards at the beach and visitors swim at their own risk. Glass is a hazard to bare feet on the beach and is not allowed. Also pets are not allowed in the facility, since it is dangerous to leave pets in hot vehicles, be sure to leave your pet at home when you come to Rock Canyon.

An important safety reminder as the weather heats up: swimming and diving is not allowed in the reservoir. The only swimming allowed in the park is at the Rock Canyon Swim Beach. Wading is permitted in the reservoir and a good way to know that you are wading is that your feet are always touching the ground.
