This includes everything from advertising, promotions and print production to media relations, exhibition coordination and website maintenance. Everyone from artists, writers, designers, media buyers, event coordinators, video producers/editors and public relations specialists work together to bring campaigns and product-centric promotions to life. You'll be involved with your project from concept through development, working with quirky, creative people who are always coming up with compelling new ways to tell people about Garmin products.

We are looking for a Media Relations Specialist for our team in Olathe, Kansas. Garmin's Media Relations Specialist is responsible for driving awareness of Garmin's business segment products and demonstrate their unique advantages of compelling design, superior quality, and best value and helping make Garmin the global leader within the outdoor business segment market.

Other essential functions for this role include:

"¢ Maintain and grow relationships with media contacts and other influencers throughout the business segment industry<br />
"¢ Work closely with Garmin's Business Segment Board to develop and execute PR strategies and programs that are aligned with the segment's goals<br />
"¢ Communicate a deep understanding of Garmin's business segment product line and the competitive landscape<br />
"¢ Assist Garmin's Social Media Manager in developing business segment content for the company's social media channels<br />
"¢ Assist the Corporate Communications team and Marketing Communications department in other markets and areas as needs arise

Qualifications

Qualified candidates for this role will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field and exhibits outstanding professionalism, judgment, and integrity. Excellent verbal and presentation skills, compelling writing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines, and a willingness to travel to trade shows and media events. We're seeking a highly organized self-starter able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines for this role!

Candidates who are familiar with consumer electronics in general and outdoors electronics in particular, possess a passion for the outdoors, and experience with social media are preferred.
