"Fishing The Midwest With Bob Jensen" Wins AGLOW AWARD
#1
Fishing the Midwest, a thirty minute television series, received the first place award in the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers(AGLOW) Awards-in-Craft for the Television-Fishing category at the 2012 AGLOW conference held recently in Branson, Missouri. AGLOW is the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator association in the Midwest, and one of the largest and most prestigious outdoor communicator organizations in North America. This is the second year in a row that Fishing the Midwest was recognized with the first place award.

"Soft-Bait Bonanza/Farewell to Friends" was the award-winning episode for Fishing the Midwest in 2012. This episode provided ideas for using plastic baits on jigs for walleyes, and also provided a platform to say good-bye to some friends.

Bob Jensen, the Host and Executive Producer of Fishing the Midwest, explained how the "Soft-Bait Bonanza/Farewell to Friends" episode came to be. "We've been using plastic baits with great success for walleyes for several years, and wanted to do a show that detailed the ins and outs of using plastics on jigs for walleyes. We were going to commit the entire show to that topic. Then, in January of 2012, two of the fishing world's greatest ambasSadors and dear friends of Fishing the Midwest died unexpectedly. Patrick Sheahan, a guide from the Land O' Lakes area of Wisconsin, and Jim McDonnell, The Fishing Professor, had made numerous appearances of Fishing the Midwest and we wanted to remember their lives on that show. It was the last episode of Fishing the Midwest for 2012. The feedback to that show was amazing. Patrick and Mac touched so many lives in a positive way, and it was apparent by that feedback that they will both be missed greatly by lots of people from all walks of life".

Jensen continued "Our mission on Fishing the Midwest is to create a story about fishing. It's more than fish coming over the side of a boat. We want to introduce our viewers to some of the people that make the fishing world go 'round. We want to share stories about the good things that are happening in the outdoors. The fishing world is full of wonderful folks like Patrick and Mac who enhance other peoples lives through fishing, and we try hard to tell their stories".

Jensen continued, "Our production team of Brian Dellis, Don Koshiol, and Bill Coit from Lifetouch Media are masters at assembling all the elements needed to create award-winning television shows. They spend hours and hours in a boat, sweating buckets in the summer and shivering in the winter, always ready to shoulder the camera to capture the action. They do an outstanding job of creating television shows that our viewers genuinely enjoy".

Fishing the Midwest is recognized as one of the leaders in fishing education and entertainment in the field of outdoor communications. In addition to hosting an award-winning television series, Bob Jensen is a book author, produces a syndicated weekly fishing column, an outdoor radio show, and is the featured speaker at fishing seminars. Fishing the Midwest is sponsored by the most progressive fishing equipment and marine suppliers in the world.
