So everybody already knows Echo has resulted to nothing more than a bathtub this year due to the dam repair project. I'm just curious to know if it has frozen over yet and if the ice is a safe thickness to walk out on. In my opinion, I think the fishing is going to be poor due to the water being muddy/cloudy, and not to mention, these fish are smart. In such a change in water levels, other changes come as well, such as food supply etc. This will result in them forging upriver in search for food. Also, I think the water level drop has them in a period where they are out of their typical feeding habits, kind of like shock per-say. Of course, these are just my opinions, I'm happy to hear the opposition and other opinions as well.

Once the ice forms and there are no more waves to stir any silt, the water clears quite quickly. At least to a point. When fish can't see, they use smell or feel to find food. And they've gotta eat, so they're gonna eat. Not many fish that have spent time in slack water (reservoir) will run upstream unless it is to spawn. I would guess that the fish in Echo will be more concentrated, hungry, and easy to catch.
One reservoir that I've spent some time at is often drawn down to a conservation pool. Murky and ugly when that happens. The fish don't leave, and they don't eat very well when it's that murky. But they bite like crazy when the ice comes on.

or could be a bunch of fish in a small area....Might be fantastic fishing. Ya never know till ya drill.

Drove by Echo Sun. the 23, it was capped and on the NE corner by where grass creek come in there were people out on the ice fishing. They had a tent and I could see several holes,, but have no idea how thick the ice is.
