Parked at the highway turnoff to dam and walked in. the snow on the ground was about a foot of freshpowder. No vehicle tracks so didn't want to risk getting stuck. There was 3 other groups on the ice besides us at 8 am. We ended up catching 4 fish. 3 stocker rainbows and a 18 in cut. The bites were light and we missed double what we caught. the ice was 4 to 6 inches thick. no slush on top and it was snowing and windy. We put up our tents and put the heaters on so we did not move around. On the way out I noticed DNR plowing the roads in on Ladders and Chicken Creek. I saw no one at the ladders at 1 pm when I left and 2 small groups at Jakes Bay within 25 yards of the shore.
We had good luck on green jigs with meal worms and my buddy used wax worms and while fishing I saw 3 snowmobiles cross the ice but they didn't stop on the water.
