Currant Creek 1-6-13
#1
My buddy and his kids had never been ice fishing and I needed fish for my brand new smoker. We decided to head up to Currant Creek as we have always done decent there before and wanted to put the kids on some fish. The road up is kind of icy but I didn't have to put it into 4 wheel drive until we left. The fishing was really slow and we drilled over 40 holes trying to find fish. We kept switching up our lures techniques and depths trying to get the kids the experience of reeling in their first fish on the ice. After about 3 hours we finally caught our first fish. A Tiger about 14".

After the kids caught a few my buddy caught his first fish on the ice.

We fished all day and only caught 11 fish. The biggest was this beautiful Tiger that I caught weighing in at over 3lb's. Nice to see those tigers starting to put some weight on.

I love the color on this fish

That's a gorgeous tiger! Thanks for the CC report. I was tempted to go there yesterday instead of Starvation. Probably should have.

Looks like fun.

Those are some nice fish!

I thought you'd definitely need snowmobiles to get into CC. Not the case, huh?

That last pic of the brightly colored fish is great. I always thought that only brook trout had the red belly and white line on the bottom fins. Tigers get that too?

There was a post last week that somebody had plowed it all the way up to the damn. They said it would be the last plow of the year. So there wasn't to much snow since then on the road. Sense tigers are part brook it makes sense for them to take some of their characteristics. I've caught a lot with red belly's. Here is one from a year ago.

They just drank beer the whole time because they suck at fishing.
