Echo access for a couple old caners.
#1
My buddy is 76 & I'm 72 so we don't gits along like we usta. That climb down from the road to the ice on Echo is kinda daunting. Is there an easier place to access it? We can handle some grades & level walkin' pullin' the sled & Frabill is no prob. Suggestions?

Thanx

We haven't been to Echo in a couple years but for us over 50 crowd we parked at the top of the entrance to the marina and went in that way. Can even take vehicle down unload /load sleds and park back up top.

You can't park along the little road to the marina as I recall...signs posted. We'd access Echo going through the side gate and through the marina area down the ramp onto ice...now again not seeing Echo in a while and knowing its low exiting the ice and back up the ramp will give you the uphill workout...but nothing like traversing the mountain goat way down and over the rocks...so the ramp way was the ticket for us and coming off it was one foot in front of the other slow and steady is our motto. [Wink] Good to see the older guys gettin out you can access echo from the boat ramp, but dont let go your sled go on the ramp theres a big drop off before the ice makes a good jump and dump all your stuff on the ice.

[cool][#0000FF]I doubt any fisherman subject to excitement and hurry-ups has NEVER forgotten anything. I was making reference to their jaunt out to Starvation last week only to discover they had left the "sweetener" in the refrigerator at home. Been that done there.

Also liked your suggestions (on the other thread) for prepping and staging the night before departure. I do about the same. In fact, I usually preload everything except the very few final items...food, bait, warm clothes, etc. I have been accused of being "overly" organized at times. But I can't remember the last time I had to admit to leaving something vital home on a fishing trip...unless you count TubeBabe.
