Hi bigfish world was wondering where is the best place to take my grandsons they are 8 and 10.They been icefishing before they would like to catch some fish. The action doesn't have to be fast and furious but enough to keep interest. Please help out.

Take 'em to Pineview. Find 30' or deeper and fish just barely off the bottom. Ya gotta really pay attention 'cause they bite verrrry light. Use a strike indicator (the little fine wire thingy) or a very sensitive rod. Once the kids get the hang of it they'll have a blast.

I just did a recon trip to check ice conditions at PV. Here's a few pics. One older fella went through on the South Shoreline of Cemetery Point and had some wet feet.
Recommend bringing a board or two or three at least 10' and be prepared to get wet and deal with the slush monster as the temps are on the rise. Maybe getting on in the early AM will be okay but coming off will be a whole different story. I got to PV a little before 9AM for this recon mission and you can see I hope by the pics the shoreline soft/wet conditions.
When I departed a little after 10AM 1 Feb temp was already at 32* in the truck.
So here ya go FWIW.

Took my son to mantua this afternoon. There are plenty of fish but the slush was brutal. Wear good waterproof boots or/and get wet.

Good for you guys! I am happy you were able to catch fish, have a good time, and spark interest in young kids to go fishing. Just curious, did you end up at Pineview, and if so, how were the ice conditions? Congrats again!
