Great fishing for perch this year at CJ and you've got it figured out. I was there Friday and did well. How was the ice on Saturday? I am curious how long its going to last with this warm weather I am thinking it cant be long.

Made a lot of noise and moved some but never seemed concerning, however some of those cracks made me sidestep sometimes. It never got soft on top and seemed to be about 10-12", it was getting dark in color.

Fished Strike Friday and 1/2 day Sat. took home a nice mess of perch. I think I kept 60 to take home. I took a picture of some of the ones I kept Friday. I had several that were just shy of 13 inches. I haven't caught perch like that since the good old days at Yuba when 13 to14 in. perch were common. I met some nice people from the BFT site as well as some from another forum, weather was great, not sure how long the ice will last with temps in the upper 40's and lower 50's

I can only go on Saturdays so keep me informed on the ice conditions. I want to focus on trying to catch some of those crappie that I think are coming through around the 15" mark, wish we had a camera.

Pretty sure there perch, I have caught a bunch about half way down the water column... The one I did catch there I got right off the bottom,

I agree with you, when I first saw some come thru I thought they were crappie, but when I would pull my lure up thru the school and stop just above them I found out they were perch but they were of a smaller size. I have never seen perch do that before, I've had them follow my lure off the bottom 5 or 6 feet and nail it but have never seen them crusing that high.
