Flaming Gorge??

Any one know how the mack fishing has been lately? TIA.

just returned from a weekend adventure up at the Gorge. we devoted all of our time to the big lakers. the fish are stacked on the humps and it seems still in the staging processes of the spawn. fishing was spotty. catch three or four one hour and catch nothing the rest of the day. however best action was right at 7 am when the lake opens and right at 6 pm when the lake closes. we caught in total 10 3-5 pound babies one 10 pounder and right before 6 pm on monday night i hooked and landed a 38 inch 25-30 pounder. contrary to the report on doug miller we caught very few with a slow action. best success was rapid jigging with crippled herrings, buzz bombs and some on tubes all right near the bottom. good luck to all those going out the next few weeks and hope this info helps snag a few big ones. dress and take all your worm clothes. we had a blast jrs4x4

Thanks jrs4x4. A 25-30 lb. fish is terrific. It's nice to hear the fish are still stacked in there and that you sore-mouthed a few. It looks like I won't be able to get up there until the weekend before Thanksgiving. Hope the fish are still in there by then.

while we were at the gorge i did notice that a couple of the boats seemed to snag most of the fish they caught. while others like 90% hooked the fish in the mouth. my son and i fished for 4 days caught over 14 macs and didnt foul hook any of them, and it seemed like we were all using the same kinds of lures probibly just the way they are used.

we also saw the cabin cruiser boat and they are the ones that seemed to snag a few. i guess its a shame that they are "paid professionals" showing the customers the wrong way to do things
