Definitely the last trip of the season. What a winter. Got to Rabbit gulch at 9 bells. Headed to the south end of the campground looking for access. Found a point with a 8' 2x6 in place. Also had a 10' 2x10 strapped to my sled. Headed out to the spot we hammered them last week. Drilled a hole and nothing on the vex. Dropped the camera and it looked like the Sahara. Moved 10' marked a few blips and scored about a dozen. Moved about 10' dropped a rattling flutter spoon and pounded the bottom. That lit the vex up. Perch from the bottom to 15' up. Fish every drop on a forage minnow tipped with an eyeball. Leaving the ice was just as exciting. The 2 guys in front of me made it, I pushed my sled to shore and eased across the 2x6. A guy behind me had a small boy who made the board and the bottom fell out and he went in to his waist. One of the guys next to me grabbed the boy and kept him dry. Edges are going fast however there were a couple of wheelers on the lake and an airboat. Would not have surprised me to see a jet ski. All perch were on a ridge in 56' of water. Best lures were small spoons like kast master or forage minnow. I would find access somewhere besides the gulch. Great ending to a fun winter.
