So, now that the ice is fading, how does everyone store their power ice augers for the summer??

I like to dump out the gas then run it until it stops. Then oil the blades and that's it

Drain gas, run it dry, spray grease on blades and put it up in the rafters of my shed.

Gas stabilizer in the tank, run the carburetor dry, pull the spark plugs and fog the pistons.

And NEVER, EVER store it by standing it up on the blades/blade cover. I hang mine from the rafters of the garage or you could lay it down. If you stand it up the weight of the auger will ever-so-slightly warp the blades and they will not cut the next time you try it.

I do all of the stuff mentioned above as well except I bought a storage rack that bolts to a wall from Strike Master and mounted it in the corner of the garage out of the way. So it stores in the upright position hanging just inches above the floor attached to the wall.

I bought a Jiffy Propane Auger this year. I really like it. Cut well, started first or second pull every time. One feature I really like is the plug and play component of the propane canister. No mixing gas. Low maintenance.

At the start of next year, though,I will change the oil.I do like the idea of hanging it up. Glad to learn that good piece of advice!

Might pull the battery, charge it, store it. A spritz of WD450 sounds good. Think I'm due for a new set of blades.
Gas gas - no oil, no fuss - no muss. Yeah - I went electric. Just wish it had a reverse.
