Can you fish it before it officially opens?

I haven't been lately but doubt it's icing off. Usually fist half of April it'll open up.

Mountain Dell, the lower lake, is closed to fishing. Little Dell is the lake 1/2 mile above.

It isn't Private, but, It is our drinking water and protection for the Cutthroat which means catch and release all cutthroat plus artificial flies or lures, No Bait or Scent. No wading unless wearing waders.

You can even ice fish it. but it is a bit of a hike until it opens for the season. Also, if you buy a pass, understand, the pass is only good for the year you buy it. So if you buy it in June, it is only good till the end of the season, not the following June.

I have kayaked fished up there for years but have always waited for it to open, I wasn't sure if you could get in trouble if you fished it before it was open.

I thought so as well, but they do allow ice fishing. It is dusk till dawn I think. It is just the gates are closed and not sure where you can legally park, but some find a spot, then hike from upper lot all the way down. It's the back up that will kill ya...LOL

OH and no motorized boats, not sure about augers.

There used to be an "open" and "closed" season at Little Dell, usually corresponding with the Cutt spawn. It's open year-round now though. I tried ice fishing it a few years back but got nothing.

Throwing some meaty streamers in the fall is when I've done the best up there. It was slightly snowing, FREEZING, but it was a fish every couple of casts.

Wading around the shore can be tricky - VERY muddy. But there are a couple rocky shorelines that can keep you relatively mud free.

Took a ride up to Little Dell today. 99% still iced over. I was surprised. I thought it would be pulling back from the edges a bit!!

What you didn't believe me and thought I had ice off all to myself[laugh]. I wouldn't lead people astray here. Try again in about 2 weeks or so.

Did'nt mean for you to get your panties in a bunch. I just had a little free time and I thought I would see if the inlet was opening up a little. Your last post sounded more like a guess to me.

Educated guess based on weather and years of experience. Not sure what set you off with my reply but I doubt I'll remember to tiptoe around you again. Please excuse me for joking about fishing ice off alone while misleading everyone or anything else that makes you reply like that. If it's because the Jazz suck ( your screen name) I'd suggest following another team as there not going to turn it around anytime in the next decade[Tongue].

The Jazz are going to win a championship in 4 years. You'll see.

I like your optimism, but I highly doubt the Jazz will ever win a championship. Not as long as Utah owns them anyway.
I love the Jazz, but I am beginning to get sick and tired of the semi-par talent we can afford. As long as superstars can decide where to play, we're doomed. Wish the players had to work where they're told like most of us!
Hate to jump off the Jazzboat, but I say buy some talent or sell 'em to another state. (If someone will buy them)

+1 the jazz are done unless they do a complete 360 in the last few games, a trade is needed and TY Corbin has got to go, hes not a consistent anything.
