Got on the deck a little after 9 am. Easy access. We played with the perch and rainbows and splake all day. I found a hot hole in 17ft and just stayed on it. My tally was 21 rainbows, 2 splake and who knows how many perch. Our group of 5 easily caught 40 rainbows and few of them would rival Starvy steelheads. Some the group went out to 60/70ft depths to try for lakers but just found more rainbows and splake. Vertical jigs like kastmasters were the way to go for me but one of group had great success with paddlebugs. No preference was noted between tipping with mealworms or crawlers. Cut bait attracted nothing. Best colors were silver, pink and orange.
When we left around 3 pm the lake had a couple of inches of surface water and edges were also a lot softer. If this weather pattern continues the ice won't be fishable by the end of the month.[:/]
