I am going to hit sand hollow in the next day or two for a little shore fishing while the kids play in the sand. I know the bass are still holding in 20-30 feet of water. I have never fished it from shore. Has anyone out there had success from shore this time of year? A hint or two on a time of day and location would be appreciated as well. PM's are gratefully accepted.
Thanks

I dunno about Sand Hollow, specifically, but once when I had long casts into deep water from shore to contend with for bass, I slew them en masse by using a casting bubble, like for trout, the clear ones. Set it up with a 3' plus leader and some light jig heads.and worm hooks. We used plastics on the worm hook and jig heads, and whole nightcrawlers hooked like a plastic worm on the worm hooks, too. (Bait for bass, shudder!).
The bubble should be filled completely with water, so it sinks slowly, but allows those long casts. I bet GULP minnows would kill em this way. Then a patient srop and slow crawling retrieve.
Good luck.

Water temps were hitting 60 over the weekend and fish were starting to move up. Some folks caught some on rapalas against the dams.

I was talking to my neighbor yesterday afternoon. He said they were fishing in shallow water and they did well. Also said they lost a ton of tackle there. You might want to put some fins and a facemask on and retrieve some of those expensive lures. Just kidding. I hear Sand Hollow is starting to pick up so have a good time with the kids.
