Missing the Promised Land but making the best of it!
#1
So I ended up having to move out of state ( which I am still questioning the decision of leaving , may have to find a job back in SE Idaho) but am trying to make the best of it here in CO. So the closest fishing to me here happens to be the "Dream Stream" if you want to take a trip and catch monster lake run fish this place may be for you.Google it to see some of the stupid big fish it produces. I thought that Idaho produced some big fish. Until I caught my biggest trout ever sat, then promptly tied into a bigger one, and then into one that was bigger than the first two, and then finally getting schooled by a fish some of the other guys guessed to be 30+. Here was the first one, a nice big cutbow that took me almost 15 min to land.

the camera went dead some where shortly after I snapped a pic of the 2nd one. Was crazy to see 5 fish over 28" come out of the same hole in 2 hour period.
Here are a couple others that I caught recently up there too.

I still miss the fishing back there as it is all close and you have a huge variety of places to fish within an hour. But I guess Ill make do while I am here Wink

Those are some monsters. Looks like a ton of fun to me. You have some good warm water options in the area too with some great northern fishing from what I hear.

Very nice fish. Keep the Mountains close. The Plains to your back.

Haha thanks for the kind words. Been enjoying it but there is a huge part of me that misses the little brookies of birch creek. So Ill be back for a week in July to get back to my roots.

And as a disclaimer I hate the hold the fish at arms length to make it look bigger pics that I inadvertenly did, your more than welcome to bust me up about it ( i do it to others all the time [cool]) just happened that they were outstreched as I yanked it out of the water for a quick pic. I do like the drool look the water running off in the pic has though!

WHAT? I love the banana finger shots![laugh]
Fish next to the rod is always a good choice. The first guide is usually at least 30 inches.
THOSE are some thick as a brick fishies

Im laughing at the banana finger comment. I hate it when you look at fish/horn pics and they got them as far from them as they can to make them look bigger. Be proud of what you got regardless of size!

Every fish that I have caught there are slabs. No clue on weight but they are some of the thickest fish I have ever tied into.
