CONCORD, N.H. -- Get set to explore New Hampshire's waterways in a canoe or kayak at two free outdoor adventure talks presented by paddlesports enthusiast Chuck Joy at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. The talks begin at 7 p.m. at Fish and Game headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. Admission is free; no preregistration is required.
On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, Joy presents "Selecting a Kayak or Canoe." At this talk, participants will learn how to choose the right canoe or kayak for their next paddling adventure. "With the many choices in paddle-craft available today, suited for every kind of use, it's not always easy to know what kind of kayak or canoe is right for you," says Joy. "This talk will help narrow the selection down to what is best for your usage, expectations and budget."
On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, step your kayak adventures up a notch and explore "Kayak Camping." Joy will go over how to properly pack a kayak and what food and gear to bring along. Hear about exciting kayak camping destinations close to home. His talk will cover coastal, inland and river kayak camping.
Presenter Chuck Joy is the New England representative for several kayak brands, including Astral Buoyancy, Liquidlogic, Native Watercraft and Hurricane Kayaks. He grew up boating on the waters of Boston Harbor and later discovered the excitement of whitewater. He spends his free time exploring the woods and waters of New Hampshire.
The paddling talks are part of a series of free outdoor adventure talks being offered by N.H. Fish and Game this spring on Wednesday evenings through May 8, 2013. This year's lineup covers a wide range of outdoor topics. Nature lovers will want to hear three talks coming up that explore efforts to restore endangered wildlife in New Hampshire, including bats, butterflies, turtles and snakes.
