Ladies/Gents,

Just looking for any recent water temp information you might be willing to share. We plan on fishing Glendale next Tuesday, and that info would be greatly appreciated.

I fished Johnson and Winder on Friday. Temps were 51-53 with 2-3 feet of clarity for Johnson, 48 and much clearer on Winder. Granted it has been cold, wet and windy since then, so those conditions are likely different now. Johnson was a couple of feet from full and Winder looked very full with lots of trees and brush in the water. Lets hope it really warms up next week and stays that way. I have a bass itch I really need to scratch.

Thanks for the information. It helps to have a general idea of what our approach will be on Tuesday. Still, with early spring up here you never know....

Hoping to make a few more trips this year to maximize that non resident fee.

I was up to Glendale Saturday afternoon for a few hours. Only boat there. A few people fishing from the bank for a few minutes here or there. Water levels not quite full yet still down I am guessing 5-10 ft from full pool? Water Temps 45-46 Degrees according to the finder. Water clarity is okay still a little green. Visibility is not bad but not great. Lots of leaves suspended in the water column. Fishing was a little slow we landed five rainbows between three of us in about 3 hours with a few missed opportunities. All were small planter sized. First trip out in the boat for the year so its all good! Hope this helps. [fishon]

We fished Glendale today. Water barely climbed past 47 degrees. Fish were hard to find and even harder to catch. Wind also became an issue later in the day. Water clarity is actually pretty good-id say 4+ feet. Ended the day with two rainbows and one hog of a largemouth after six hours between two guys.

The hog of a largemouth part sounds pretty good. Another week and it should really pick up.

Well we spent the day scooting around Lamont with no luck, marked a few fish but no takers. Water temps were from 49-51, took care of my first sunburn of the season. Kids and wife all had a good time even though the bite wasn't on.

Went out for an afternoon of bass chasing today. I hit Oneida first, got on the water around quarter to noon. I was immediately greeted by a couple of loons laughing away. It's always a treat when they're around. The water was fairly murky, maybe two feet of clarity and 51 degrees. I promptly snagged a nasty mirror carp in the tail with a lipless crank.

After the long battle, I retied my line, and a couple of casts later, I got an even nastier carp.

I fought him for a while, replaced my mangled line, and then snagged another, but this time I only landed a scale. I ditched the crank and started swimming a grub around some rocks in about three feet of water, and I thumped a nice chunky little smallie of 14".

I was feeling pretty optimistic, and then the wind started blowing. Not bad, but enough to make it tough to work a subtle bait and to keep the tube on a spot. I think I missed a couple more fish on the grub, but I'm not positive. I tried shallow and deep jerkbaits (probably too murky for them right now), a deep diving crank and a dropshot working water from 1-20' and got nothing. I decided to look for largemouth before I spent too much time at Oneida.

I hit Winder for a couple of hours. Water clarity was good, and the temp was 51-54. There were loons on both ends of the reservoir and they seemed to be having a conversation with each other. I probably should have spent more time fishing jerkbaits around dropoffs, but I got distracted when I heard some splashing and saw a commotion in the shallows. I tossed a soft jerkbait up in the brush in a foot or two of water and promptly missed a decent fish. The wind was putting a lot of slack in in my line and I missed another. Three's the charm, and I landed this monster.

[inline "bitty bass small.jpg"]

I can't believe it got a 4" bait and a 3/0 hook in its mouth. I caught two more, and they got a little better.

[inline "bass small.jpg"]
I decided to try the far shore as it dropped off much more abruptly and I thought it might be a good place to fish some cranks and suspending jerkbaits. I was disappointed to find the water was several degrees cooler on this side. I probably should have stuck with it longer, but I kept thinking about the shallow brush lovers on the other side and headed back.

The wind was getting peskier, so I decided to ditch the tube and walk the shore since the fish were so shallow. I downsized to an even smaller jerkbait and scored a few more small bass of around 10". Not too exciting, but it was fun watching how they attacked the baits in the clear water. They would dart out, then swing wide and try to hit it head first. They often missed, but then I would let it sink like they'd stunned it, and they typically snarfed it up. I missed a lot of the little guys, but that's okay.

Not the most exciting day, but it was good to finally catch some bass, get some sun, and hang out with the loons. With the forecast I think it's going to turn on very soon. Glad I have Monday off from work too [Smile]

hey Thanks gstott for the report and fish pictures. Looks like you had some pretty good action and it should only get better if it warms up and starts looking like summer.

I finally got my new motor and im breaking it in and will be ready to fish really soon and hope to hit Oneida really soon.

I know, I swung by on the way home to have a look. Wading in amongst the flooded trees and brush tossing soft jerkbaits is one of my favorite parts of spring. I guess I'll have to wait until next year [frown]

I didnt get a reliable tape or weigh in, but my lap net has an 18" measurement which she overlapped. Unfortunately the measuring area was sagging a bit so I cant be sure on the exact length.

That's a gorgeous specimen. I know where I'm going tomorrow. I just hope the wind holds off long enough for me to get into some.
