200 people on that puddle? Not knocking the intentions, but most Flaming Gorge Tournaments only allow 300 teams, or 900 people max.

This is going to be an interesting tournament....It is not a very large reservoir at all. The 200 is a max number for the tournament and may not even be reached. And yes if everyone brought a boat it will be a nightmare. These are things that are being looked at currently like a max boat limit. Fishing has been good from the shore though and is a viable option for most people. State Parks are looking into ways of creating revenue and also ways to give the public more things to do.....This is a slow season for most parks and it is a way to help people discover new honey holes and fishing destinations.

I wish I could go...I loved that place the last few years! I never brought a float tube or anything. I had a bank spot that was the bomb...pretty sure it was the deepest part of the lake and even when a Boat passed by me, to far for me to cast, I'd still always catch more than them.

PaliSade has been added to the list of reservoirs to have the Cabelas fish for millions fish put in. They were put in yesterday!! Check out cabelas.com/fishformillions to get registered and see the prizes. Their tournament begins on the 4th of May and goes til the 7th of July. I bet there is a good chance that one of those fish will be caught at the PaliSade tournament on the 11th of May. Those fishing the PaliSade tournament need to register with Cabelas if they want to participated in the fish for millions tagged fish event. If they do not want to participated in Cabelas then just register for PaliSades alone. But why not do both, Cabelas is free and there is a good chance one will be caught during PaliSades event! To register for PaliSades tournament call 18003223770 and tell them you want to do the paliSade fishing tournament. There are some good sponsors with good prizes.

Not only is it way too small for 200 people, the payout for that even is only 15% of the possible entrance fees. So they could get 4,000 in entrance fees and only pay back 600.

From what I have heard there is less than 50 people signed up at this time and it is not anticipated to hit the max of 200. Their giveaways and prizes are over $1000 in value. So if numbers don't grow then it will have a good payout. This tournament should be a fun one for the youth that want to participate. There have been over 3000 fish planted with in the last couple of weeks. Those may not be the best tasting fish but they will still be fun to catch.

This is probably a silly question, but.....for those of us that only practice catch & release, how would that work? Just net the fish & bring it to whomever is judging?

p.s. who CARES what the payout is?! Sorry, but there's more to it than just making a buck or $300. Right? This is an awesome event. I live 15 miles from there & i'm STOKED that Cabelas is hosting it. Good advertising for such a cool little unknown place.

p.p.s. there's also a killer golf course there for those that golf.

p.p.p.s. rumor has it all the camp sites are full? So, for those that DON'T live 15 miles from the lake, is there another camping option for them?

That is a good question on the Catch and release. It is going to be very tough to get a fish officially measured (and weighed in case of a tie) without harming the fish.. Probably not going to be feasible on the state tournament.

Just a side note, there are two fishing tournaments going on. The one on May 11th is put on by State Parks. The May 4th through July 7th (tagged fish) tournament is done through Cabelas. This one is a possibility of catch and release because the tags and a picture of the fish are all that count to win.

Like you said Payout isn't everything. It is Just nice to get out and enjoy family and friends. PaliSade is known as a family spot and I hope a lot of families come and participate at the lake whether it is the tournament or another day just to enjoy the lake. Between now and Memorial weekend the park is considerably slower and fishing seems to be better as well.

There are very few spots left in the campground but as of now I believe there are some. The other options are Temple Hill Campground in Manti. Hotels in Manti and Ephraim. Limited camping is available in the canyon above paliSade(6 mile) and a lot of camping up above Mayfield(12mile canyon).
