Mantua early Spring flop
#1
Got out on the toons last Sunday at Mantua with my son inlaw Joe. We both fished for Bass and Trout, with little success. Got there at 8:00 Am, launched on the "south Bank". Found the water to be very cold. Did have a FF but my feet told me the water was around 40 deg. We tried the shallows in and by the brush and trees. Zero.
I was looking for trout activity and saw very little. Did hook one of the finless but little Fred didn't know to hang on.
The inlet area had nothing to offer when a Kastmaster was thrown.
Anyways we will try again in another two weeks. Water should be a bit warmer by then I hope..
Anyone else get over there. how did you do?? Everyone I spoke to on the water had the same results as us... Zippo..

I was there this morning... Skunk city. I had my finder on my toon. The fish were really spread out and I couldn't find any areas that had more then just a random fish or two. My feet were numb as well. It was a beautiful day but the fish were not interested in anything I had to offer.

Im hoping that things will improve with the better weather were suppose to have. Ill probably try again later this week. I saw a few fish suspended but most were sitting right on the bottom.

As high as the sun's angle is, I bet it will only take a few really sunny, warm weather, like today, for the shallowest shallows to start attracting fish. When I walk along the roadsides and see swirls of escaping fish in 2' of water, I get out there in waders for the bluegills and bass.
