Striped Bass - It's Spring Peak for numbers at the mouth of the Connecticut River. Most fish are between the 1 and 2 foot range with a very few close to 3 feet. It's an increase over the last 2 Springs when those small fish were missing. Reports from up River have some larger bass hunting herring. Not much has been heard from the outside reefs yet. The Housatonic is similar with smaller fish at the mouth and larger ones north.
There has been some surface action with bass hitting Slug gos and poppers, but don't get rid of your lead heads yet.
Bunker are in Branford and Peconic Bay
Blackfish - It's over until July 1st.
Flounder - The only action that's crossed our counter is some being caught in the Niantic River.
Fluke - Season opens May 15th, no word from Montauk yet. The squid run hasn't taken hold yet.
Tide Tables are in and we're finalizing the regs before we print the Tri State Fishing Regulations.
