Fishing report: Variety is buzzword on the waterfront
Reports from all indicate a variety of species is being caught on most trips.
The wind Tuesday kept most of the boats at the docks, but once it lays, daily fishing will resume.
Offshore Adventures reports fishing is "pretty decent. The trips to state waters are producing red snapper, black drum and redfish.
Offshore, anglers are still catching vermilion and lane snapper, shark, kingfish, "nice" amberjack and triggerfish.
Catches this past week at Fisherman’s Wharf have included a variety of species.
Anglers have caught Atlantic sharpnose shark, lane and vermilion snapper, kingfish, yellowfin tuna, triggerfish and blackfin tuna.
Anglers going out of Dolphin Dock last week caught a couple of African pompano, one of which weighed 45 pounds.
They also have caught amberjack, kingfish, shark, blackfin tuna, dorado and "plenty" of vermilion snapper.
"Fishing is great"at Deep Sea Headquarters. Anglers caught amberjack, shark and a "lot of tuna weighing between 50 and 100 pounds."
Anglers are catching redfish, shark, a few speckled trout, flounder and sheepshead on the north jetty, according to Woody’s Sports Center.
Bay guides are still returning with full stringers of redfish as well as black drum and speckled trout.
Horace Caldwell Pier reports that even though it was "a little windy" Tuesday, fishing was "pretty good."
Anglers are still bringing in redfish, speckled trout, shark, big croaker and some whiting.
