Canyon Lake Guide Report
#1
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 94 degrees; 909' :
Largemouth are very good to 5 lbs. 2'-8' deep in creeks on white/char. Terminator buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), Yellow Magic topwaters (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and watermelon/red Craw Tubes (www.cremelure.com). Green pumpkin Whacky stick w/chartreuse tail, watermelon Big Pigs (www.cremelure.com) & smoke/red flake Snap Back (www.terminatorlures.com) pitchin' tubes are all good choices for big fish in tight to standing or horizontal timber in 5'-12' of water. Upriver, blue fleck Snap Back 7" worms and Creature Baits worked slowly in 8'-14' along bluffs and creek points are good.

Smallmouth are good over rock piles and submerged rocky points
in 5'-12' using bright chartreuse 7/16 oz. Terminator tungsten
spinnerbaits & crawfish 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com). If motion baits fail to produce, try sliding a 2" pumpkin Sliding Weight (www.slidingweight.com) Finesse Crawfish with chartreuse claws on a split shot rig across the bottom or swimming a 3/16 oz. pumpkin Terminator Finesse Jig w/ matching #11 Uncle Josh pork trailer (www.unclejosh.com) over the same structure.

Stripers are fair to good in lower end of lake on the surface using
pink Snap Back jerkbaits (www.canyonlakefishing.com), chrome Slap Stiks (www.rat-l-trap.com) and burning a white Hyper Striper jig (www.kgenterprise.com) just below the surface in schooling action.

White Bass fair early along main-lake points on Spoiler Shads, Tiny Traps and Shad Raps.
**Expect to see substantial improvement in Striper and White Bass activity in the late December - early January time frame from mid-lake to the upper end where they will be staging for the spawning run in early March. Until then, watch they surface for indications of feeding activity - or follow the brids.**

Crappie are fair tight to standing timber in 12' of water using
live minnows and Swirltail grubs on 1/16 oz. jigheads.
