Memorial Day on the Berry
#1
After hearing our report from the Berry Saturday, my father wanted to go give it a try again Memorial Day. It was just the two of us so we decided to do something we don't normally do: hit the Soldier Creek side.

We launched at about 7AM; outside temp 40, water temp 49 degrees.

10 minutes later we'd cruised out into the main bay, let our our lines, and reeled in fish number one.

By 8:30AM we quit trying to count how many fish we were catching and instead started counting how many times we had multiple fish on our four poles simultaneously.

By 1PM the final count was 22 doubles, 6 triples, and 4 quadruples.

The longest stretch we went without a fish was about 15 minutes.

We caught in the neighborhood of 85 fish -- about 10-1 rainbows-Cutts and most between 15 and 17. A few were tiny 10"ers and 3-4 were 18". Nothing for us over 18".

We were having fun just going for numbers that day so I didn't bother getting out the downriggers, but that will be remedied this weekend as we try to find some lunker Cutts living beneath all the bows.

We fished straight out from the launch in Pontoons, you had to have seen us.
As you said, catching was no problem.
I had several TRIPLES. I fish two flies per rod and run second pole permit. I had two on one rod and one on the other, plus three different flies.
I too caught way more bows, but managed a couple Cutts with one very nice one from shore.
