Payson Lake
#1
Got up there a quarter after 9 and found a nice little picnic area for me and my lady. She ventured out onto the lake in her tube and I waded in the water and threw lures. I ended up catching 12, 11 rainbows and 1 brook. I caught 9 of the 12 on a gold Jakes Spin-a-Lure and the other three on a black wooly bugger on a Type 2 line.

Good for you TMan. How'd your partner do in the tube?

She did fairly well for her first stillwater flyfishing outing. She caught six total 4 on flies and 2 on lures. All rainbows caught on buggers and gold jakes.

Its my first time catching one at Payson Lake. I usually caught them at the third lake on the southwest side in the trees by the dam on spinners and powerbait...thats before I started flinging flies [blush] I've only caught about 6 with flies at the third lake (cant remeber the name) with adams, renegades, and buggers. They usually average out at around 13" but the biggest brook I fooled out of there was 16.5"

The lower reservoir is Box Reservoir, the middle is McClellan and the larger upper reservoir is Big East Reservoir.

I can never remeber the names of them. Thanks Kent.

Actually the lower lake is McClellan and the middle is box. I haven't fished the lakes for a few years but certain techniques will catch a lot of brookies. Just nothing real big in any of the lakes.

You are correct about the names. Big East actually has some decent sized trout if you are lucky enough to catch one.
