Went to American Fork last night got to the lake about 6pm, fished where the boats were coming in and out of the harbor. 2 hours of fishing no luck! Asian guys next to us were catching blue gill and mudcats every 10 minutes. Mexican guy on the right of us was catching white bass but not into a school or anything but he did manage 6 while we caught nothing!!!![frown]
The night turned for the better after the nice asian guys offered us beer and some of the bait they were using. The Mexican guy actually gave us some white bass meat as well for bait. Thank you to the unknown kindess of fellow fisherman (the asians and mexican).
After that we started catching some mudcats and one white bass. It got dark and as I was about to leave I did the tradtional stare at my pole for a few seconds before reeling it in to leave for the night. BAM! rod went bendo and reel starting screaming out. I Knew it was a channel cat when I set the hook but it took alot of line out on my 6 pound cabela line, so I thought Dang carp!!! but no it was a giant channel. No net so put on the gloves and grabbed the grand daddy cat. 9 pounds 29 inches. Special thanks to fellow fisherman for provided us beer and bait. (Not all Asians or Mexicans have bad fishing etiquette, just sayin).
