You asked for opinions so i gave mine. That fish is clearly under 11" I caught a legit 11 ice fishing utah lake a few years ago I thought it might be a record so I immediatly took it to the grocery store to weigh... It was almost a pound lite. Weight is all they consider on catch and keep records. If you really want to know immediatly weigh the fish it will lose a signifigant percentage of weight as it dies and dries. Not trying to rain on your parade that is a great fish but at 1/2"-1" shorter than the current record imho not even close to the 2lb8oz needed to beat the record. Nice fish anyway

Wow, I missed the boat, I guess. I've caught some, not many, at the 12" area at Pelican some years ago. Should have checked, I guess. No matter, that was a nice blue.!!!! [

Nice Gill, good catch.
Just remember, a C&R catch means if wasn't released into the grease! (poking a dif. angler! [:p] Nevermind me!). Think the best from the Ice-contest was a 9-er this year. Think the record comes from Mantua. But that's in the north. Hmmm.... nudder contest?!?! teeehee.

The only reason I kept him cuz I was not sure I just remember it being around 10" so I thought it was. But I found my proclamation and I was wrong

That is a nice gill, no state record but it is certainly close in inches. It doesn't have girth tho but should fry up delish! But yeah I can see by the tail that it's pretty dry. If you want to break records, when you do get a huge fish make sure it stays wet in a plastic bag. and try not to put any pressure on it. If it takes a premature dump or eggs drip out you will lose a huuuge amount of weight before it can be certified. Do not freeze either, that will dry it up.

He is saying he kept him because he thought the record was around 10" and thought his would be close, he then looked in his proclamation and saw how big the record was. Nothing to do with your post, moving on.
