Camped at Maple campground last Friday. Res is way down. Anyone know if it is coming up again or will continue to fall with the low water year? Fishing was OK the boys and wife had fun. Lots of people

I was there a week ago and it was all the way full. They must have just unleashed the water and are just letting it go.

Oneida is on the way from Bear Lake to the farmers so it will have a fairly regular flow, but UP&L uses it to generate so they fill it and then generate and then refill again. It's not like most other reservoirs. Later J

Yes i understand this, but the river is also lower then normal, and there is not much run off. This would be the first time I have ever seen Oneida affected by low water year, but there is not much coming down the rivers to fill it back up.
Just wondering is anyone had heard anything different.
Hope it is still all the same and stays unaffected. I have a feeling all the other resevoirs in the area are going to have a hard year.

Possibly the lower runoff is causing UP&L to have to keep the flow moving and they may not be able to operate as normal. I agree this year is going to get ugly for low levels. I hope it don't wipe out the good fishing spots. Later J

From the gages... water above Soda is abt 1300, but they are putting a bunch out of Oneida too at 700 to almost 900. Considering the big canals in between the dams, they are spitting most of the intake out of Oneida at the moment. That changes with power demands.
Oneida and Alexander aren't like most reservoirs. They don't catch the winter water and ration it over the summer. They are more like a wide slow spot in the river. They have an amazing turn over rate.

At least with Oneida, even if they draw it down, there is still the river to supports some fish. All the other reservoirs have me worried, I don't want to lose anymore fisheries.

Is it gonna be worth trying to put the boat in this Wednesday or is it a lost cause right now?

Was the fishing any good, or did the fluctuations put the fish off? I was planning on going up there tomorrow, but between that and the high wind forecast, I may pass on it for now.

Boats were still able to launch on Saturday, but if it gets much lower we will run out of ramp. They did not build that one very long.

It doesn't look to good on the Pacificorp link posted above, I was there last Wednesday and it had dropped about a foot from Monday the 3rd. The graph showed 500-600 cfs going out on Wednesday and it's at 896 right now and shows a prediction of 1100 through the 17th. This really sucks.

Hopefully it has been hot enough that the eggs have all hatched and the fry can move with the water. Not sure if I want to head up there with the forecast. That place can be a pain to fish from a tube in the wind.

I thought I'd picked a time in the middle of the week when there wouldn't be too big of crowd up there, but it sounds like a weekend up there tomorrow... Guess I'll join you guys too... Sorry I picked a bad time to take time off work, but hopefully there will be enough water to still fish.. Later J
