I ran over to the river on my lunch break and was rewarded with a couple trout. the second picture is pretty rough, but it was just as pretty as the first and a bit bigger to boot!

Hey, alright! I love a good lunch break escape.[
![]() Looks like fun. I sure miss it. An another subject, how do you like that Triax reel? I've had one and wasn't pleased with the drag. Does your drag work well? [signature]

You know, to be honest I don't think my opinion is a very valid one. My fishing gear (mostly older stuff from my dad) was stolen a few weeks ago and I just got these new reels to replace them. I got them because I could afford them and they are way better than the worn out, dirt packed, dinosaurs I was using. Especially with new line on them. so my opinon, if you decide to put any weight to it, is that they are great. espeically for the price. What specific issues with the drag were you having? I am curious as to what i should be looking for.

Hey, sorry to hear about your stuff being taken. I know what that feels like and actually noticed how new that reel looked. I hope you don't think I was trying to down play your equipment.
Like I said, I had the same reel for awhile (haha, it got stolen from my lunch break spot). It was to replace my old, worn out reels. Really, I was just wondering if yours had a better drag system than mine. On mine, the drag was either way too tight, snapping my line on a good run, or way too loose. There didn't seem to be a middle ground and it also seemed to tighten or loosen itself when in use. Weird. Hopefully yours is a bit better and treats you well for a long time. I really like the arm of the crank on the Triax. Good and sturdy. The rod that it was being sold with as a combo at SW was really nice, especially for the price. It was the QX36, if you get a chance to look into that. I've really liked mine, especially for jigging. [signature]

No worries, I didn't take that as a down play on my equipment at all. I haven't noticed any of those drag issues that you mentioned as of yet. In fact, just yesterday when I was out I remembered thinking that I had the drag setting dailed in for the river and the size of the fish I was catching. I have only had them out maybe three times though so I will for sure keep an eye on them.
Having your equiptment stolen sucks. But what really bothers me about it, is the mentality that those kind of people have. I cannot understand the thought process and sense of entitlement that goes along with helping yourself to other peoples property. Drives me crazy. [signature] |
