Heading down to St. George this weekend with the family for our first time. I have never fished at Sand Hollow, but I hear great things about the bass and bluegill fishing. I am wondering if it is a good place to take a few young kids fishing from the shore? If so, I could really use some help to know where to go and what to use to get the kids into some good fishing action with the possibility of some good bass for myself!
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It is good fishing texas rig plastic worms, but DO NOT LET THEM IN THE WATER the swimmers itch is BAD BAD BAD this year! if you want wading or playing water go down the road to Quail Creek.

I know of another BFT member that would confirm this. They were wading from shore to cast to deeper water and ended up regretting it. He said there were kids camping with their parents nearby and they were screaming and crying in agony from the itch. [blush] I probably wouldn't let a kid within 20' of it.

Some family members of mine went camping there a couple weeks ago. Their kids got swimmers itch so bad they had to take a couple of them to the doctor. It seemed as time went on the itch got worse and worse. Good Luck.

I was there 2 weeks ago with a friend... We only lasted about 30 minutes wading in the water fishing before we got swimmer's itch... It was really bad. Felt like chicken pox on steroids... One day later, I developed a bunch of red bumps all over my legs that lasted about a week. Chamomile lotion and Benedryl seemed to do the trick...Here is a pic of what it looked like by the time I got home.

Swimmers' Itch is more closely connected to the shallow/weedy areas that little kids would play in. Less chance of getting it in deeper water.

Anyone fished it in the last couple of days? It's been good and thinking of hitting the water early next week.
