We took advantage of the reprieve and went bottom fishing Friday. 2 Lings to 30 inches, 6 reds and wide open sculpin. Let's hope for a continuing season. By the way the butts are biting. We didn't fish for them but Nacho at the bait receiver reported that 6 to 7, 20 pound plus fish are being caught by a couple of drifters off Huntington. I saw a number of boats yesterday drifting in that area.

Hey there gvanzant,

Good to hear you took advantage of our sportfishing reps efforts. Monterey, Avila, Morro Bay and the Channel Islands landings did a booming business these last few days when their boats went out. Local too of course depending on the landing/boat.

This deal about closing down one species for fear another will be caught instead is just so much garbage. If the DFG really had some guts they would follow that logic to its' very end and ban Calico Bass fishing too. What a bunch of hypocrits!!!! They wont' do it because they know that would be the final straw. That might actually cause a statewide boycott of fishing licenses and the sudden demise of there cash cow (sportfishing industry). They only want to put the screws to us a little at a time in increasing degrees, not show us what their real agenda is for the future!
