Georgia DNR Offers Grant for Outstanding Conservation Teacher
#1
A Georgia third-, fourth- or fifth-grade teacher who demonstrates exceptional energy and innovation in teaching life sciences could earn a $1,000 grant this fall from Georgia DNR's Nongame Conservation Section.

The agency is offering the grant for public and private school teachers, thanks to support from The Environmental Resource Network, or TERN, friends group of the Nongame Conservation Section.

Through education, research and management, the Nongame Conservation Section safeguards Georgia's native wild animals, plants and habitats, while also striving to increase public enjoyment of the outdoors.

The grant recognizes and helps an outstanding teacher who uses Georgia's nongame wildlife as the context for learning third-, fourth- or fifth-grade curriculum standards.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 16. The grant winner will be notified and funding awarded in October.
