UDAV FIshing Event

BFT friends,
thank you all so much for your trmendous support yesterday!!! [] We had a great turnout with about 45 boats, just under 30 shore volunteers and 74 vets. The event went extremely well with one minor issue at the start as the VA vans arrived about an hour and a half late. I really appreciate all the boaters patience during that wait. It was our intention to get everyone out fishing by 7:45 and we didn'tquite make that. Other than that minor issue we got people in every volunteer boat, the weather out held out awesome for fishing with a low overcast and a few sprinkles here and there but no rain. There were lots of fish caught, and I saw quite a few kokanee being caught as I piloted the press boat around to all the volunteer boats we could find. [fishin]
The vets had a great time, and I want to thank all of the volunteers and our sponsors for their tremendous support. We'll get an after action report on here in the next couple weeks with pictures but I wanted to get a quick thank you out there.

And I want to thank the vet that took me fishing yesterday after he found out that i was told my veterans disability was not severe enought to participate in this event. After all the invites i received on this great forum I would of expected an apology from the guy in charge, but I guess he was to busy carting the press around. I just hope all vets with any type of disability are invited next year.

You did another great job yesterday Todd. I know putting on the DAV event is a lot of work, I'm glad to see lots of help from good folks and sponsors. I think these events are good for a lot of the vets but they are also a learning experience for everyone and it seems every year is better than the last. Thanks for all your hard work in making this event possible. By the way, if you like we can set up a spot in the Photo Gallery for anyone that wants to add pics from this years DAV event?

Thanks for your continued support Curt, it's much appreciated. []As you well know it is alot of work to put this event on every year but it is well worth the effort to recognize some well deserving people. The folks we work with at the VA hospital tell us that this event is the most popular event of the year for them and it's nice to see some of the same faces every year. The last 2 years we have also started to see more and more of the newer generation of warriors as well.

It's heartwarming for me to see the turnout of people volunteering to bring their boat up there to take someone out fishing that they do not know. This year we also had the greatest turnout of non-boater volunteers that we've ever had and that really was special and helped to make the event much better for all.

The company that I and 3 of our board members work for (IM FLASH) really stepped up this year with their commitment both financially and support wise. They highlighted our event at an all team member meeting and gave volunteers a free day off to participate in this event. The shore volunteer help we had from IM FLASH, Hill AFB, and Fidelity Financial Services was fantastic and really made this an enjoyable experience for all.

My Vet this year was so excited about catching so many fish, he said he never caught so many in one day. we all had a great time . Once again WELL DONE my friend. This was a great event I was very glad to be apart of it. I'm going to have to spend some more time on the berry before next year. That was my first time fishing there. We still had a good time out in the boat abs made some new friends. Thank you for putting on this event. As an active duty military member these old vets are one group I will always do anything I can to help out.




I did see a lot of BFT swag. Where can I get a Tshirt? Curt I was going to get with ya afterwards for stickers but you were getting food and I thought I'd catch up with ya later.
