LBJ Report
#1
Lake LBJ Report (Austin) -

The water level at LBJ is a couple of inches low, and the water temperature is 49 degrees. The water clarity is stained and only visible to about 3 inches.
The fish here are already starting to stage, with the males up shallow and the females out on the points. The males are aggressively biting Nichols Mango jigs, in black-blue with a black-blue Gambler craw worm trailer. Pitch the jig in and around all bank side structure and be ready for the strike. They are cruising around looking for bedding areas, so be sure to cover the tight spots too. Those areas that are not real accessible to just an average cast. These are the areas that will most likely be a prime area for spawning. The males will be up there for the next week or so getting everything ready for the big move, while the females are loading up on food out on the points and in the deeper drops adjacent to any flat areas.
Fish up to 4 lbs. are being caught right now on the Nichols Mango Jig, and Texas Rigged Gambler lizards, in green pumpkin. The males that were caught in the shallow areas were of typical male size, most between 14-15 inches.

-Steven Hill (512) 341-0671

H&S Fishing Guide Service
Professional Bass Fishing in Texas

H&S Fishing Guide Service
Professional Bass Fishing in Texas
