Sorry for the spam blast to the forum... however the connection for the taxidermist we were going to use is no longer doing fish mounts.
We landed a record setting Bear Lake Cutthroat that I am looking to have it mounted to the best of our local abilities and open for suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

If you click on the "Search" button above and search this board using "taxidermist" you will find this topic has been discussed several times recently. How about posting up a picture of the cutthroat?

First off, thanks for the reply
I could google one too, that's really not what I'm looking for. I know a lot of taxidermist can do them, and I'm sure a lot do good jobs.
We're looking for personal recommendations and personal input as this is the catch of a lifetime and we really aren't looking for just an okay mount, we after exceptional.
As for the picture, ly, this forum burned me a few years ago with all the critics, the politics and the bashing of the many fish me and my kids catch (and sometimes keep), so this forum will never see another picture of anything we boat, even if it is a record breaking fish.
You are welcome to reach out to me privately; or you can wait and catch the article in the paper, there will be several pictures in there.
Thanks for your understanding.

Thanks for the plug on Jeremy, I'll look him up. Do you happen to know anyone that has a fish mount done by him?
You're welcome to send info to me privately.
Thank you.

I had to look at the Username twice, I could not belive my eyes that you were on BFT again. If I had ever mounted a fish I would post up a name for you. One day I might mount a fish.

Go over to the Utah wildlife network and look up a user that calls himself Tex O Bob and look at some of the work that he has posted up over there.
The man does some great work and when I contacted him about doing a fish he said that he charges $20 an inch.

Sweet....exactly the kind of post I was looking for
Thank you! I'll look him up and see if we can get this going.
Looks like they want to mount it in the new Sportsmans warehouse that's opening in Logan so that will be pretty sweet.
Cheers.

Congrats on the fish and finding the information you're looking for. I'm kind of as to how you felt burned by the community and never looking to share again, yet you turn to those same individuals for help.

Here is my personal opinion...
Dan Johnson with Wilderness Taxidermy

He is Nationally recognized and a complete magician with an air brush. I have seen him at work personally and personally witnessed many of his pieces. If you are planning on a skin mount, and I am sure that you are, he will not disappoint!
Great guy to shoot the bull with too!!!

Most of the big lakers and rainbows displayed at Sportmans, Fish Tec, and DWR were done by him. Most of the lakers came from the Gorge and the Bows from up in Northern Idaho. Many of the warmwater mounts are also his !! He is an Artist, not a taxidermist !!

Thanks for the followup. Spoke with Mr Gardner, he recommended Jerry Shivers but haven't heard from him.
Had another lead that turn to a source out in Minnesota that does the Cabelas mounts, perhaps we'll get some traction there but I was hoping to keep it local.
Appreciate the input and feedback however.
Turns out the trouble comes from that fact that Bear Lake cuts are endemic so molds aren't available and will have to be custom made given its size.
Also have to decide between doing a skin mount versus cranking out a mold. Any ideas which route is better there?
Fingers crossed!

Just an FYI, Dan hand carves a lot, if not all of his forms. Custom fit everytime!
