Went to Hyrum on my way to work this morning. Caught 7 rainbows in about a half hour before I had to get going. Most of them on bait in the near shallows, a couple on a fly and bubble rig. Fun time for such a quick trip.

Great job. Been wondering how is the size of the bows over there these days? Could you tell if boats can still launch? Wanting to try it over there in the next couple weeks before it gets too cold. Thanks J

I was there a week ago fishing from shore and there were a bunch of boats launching.

Curt, thanks that's great news... Were you after the bass? Didn't see a story so I assume you either wanted to keep it under wraps or didn't have one of your usual successful trips... Did you notice the bow size? Just wondering if they are big enough to be interesting or not... Thanks for the boat info.... J

After reading a recent post I decided I'd give it a try for the bass but I'm not a bass fisherman, so no luck for me, just one 9" bow[frown], not worth a report.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a new fall planting if we have 9"er bows. I wouldn't say your not a bass guy, you just like the wiper flavor more than the largies. And those guys that fish them do have a talent, but I'm sure you can pick it up with practice. Thanks again for the info. J

Gotta give Matt credit, the boy knows his bass like his . . . donkey. I know you know where the cleaning stations are [crazy] I'd guess you know where some of the hot bass locations can be. Can be a bit of a walk from shore, but a bud was telling me he targets them in locations I wouldn't have guessed.
I so almost took a run up there on my way home . . . but then the wheels turned. Hear launching is still working. Did you have to pay a walkin, or not in those areas?
Jeff - all I've heard - you'll be doing well to get footlongs on the finless freddies. They've been planting smaller the past while. Maybe by ice up they'll have fattened up.
I "almost" made it there last weekend, but alas.
Heck - I "almost" went fly-fishing too. (actually did pitch a few, but my browns weren't playing)
SO - someone went to work smelling like fish! Touche! I get enough grief for heating fish in the microwave! Ha. Hot Tuna tomorrow (seared tonight). No, I didn't catch it- but can't pass up a managers special!!!!

Like it wa previously mentioned, boats were on the water. Most fish caught were around 10 inches but I did catch a couple around 16 inches. Went again this morning and got into some perch as well.
