What is everyone's opinion on what is the best ice fishing line for different species, from lake trout to perch??

For lake trout I prefer zero memory braid like Cajun braid or cortlands braid in 15 -20 lb test. That fireline crap has so much memory a fish has to run ten yards to move the rod tip. I tip the braid with fifteen feet of 10 to 12 # flouro leader. I like the small diameter fly fishing varieties. My panfish rod gets 4 lb micro ice. I use this rod for rainbows at the gorge as well. Fun on the light tackle.

Anything but Fireline that's stuff is awful. Pulled it off after one trip. The Micro Ice works just fine.

Hands down: 4# micro ice. Complete with a small Kastmaster 18" above the hook to act as attractor/flasher.

For Bear Lake Macks, I'm still up in the air and trying to find the best zero to low memory line. If anyone as a good suggestion, please let me know. Thx.

4 lb trilene smooth cast. Works great. I leave one bigger real spooled with 8 lb in the same stuff for the occasional trip to Henry's or bear lake.

I second the P-LINE vote. Great stuff. I use it on all my poles.

I use Gamma ESP Ice for 2-8 lb. test for everything from panfish to Lake trout. If I'm fishing in a tent, I'll sometimes use 3# fireline w/leader for panfish.

2-4 lb P Line for panfish and typical trout, 6 lb for Strawberry variety trout, and 14 lb for Flaming Gorge. Going to try 3 lb this year to see if I can eliminate the 2 and 4 lb lines. P Line, Trilene XL, and BPS Excel mono have always served me well in most situations.
