Know the difference between a Muskie and Northern Pike?

The differences between a Pike and a Muskie are pretty easy once you know what to look for.

typically I look for the stripes, vertical or horizontal, but the best way is to check for the number of pin holes on the bottom of the jaw.

then there is the tiger musky that throws a monkey wrench in to the works.[Tongue]

You are right on though in areas without Tiger Muskies.

also, a true muskies tail fin is sharp on the ends. whereas a Pike and Hybrid muskys tailfins are rounded. A pike has ten pores under the jawbone, and a musky is usually more than 13.
