I had a real crappy day at work and decided to take out some fat aggression on some bucket-mouths. I caught one single fish for the two hours before dusk and I was about to head to the Pimprius when I got the wild hair to tie on a popper. Boy, was that a good idea. From dusk-thirty to about 7 the action was fast and furious. I used a hand-made popper by a Utah kid who owns Inhale Lures (look him up, they're awesome) and it worked like a peach until I lost it on what felt like a 30lb log of a fish. So  . Anyway, here are some pics. I'm going to enjoy living down here I think.

Nice to hear from you. Great pics in the dark. Nice lookin' popper, too. Gotta get me some. Our bass club had a tourney down there a few weekends ago. Got most of our fish in mid-20', and bite improved later in afternoon. What was water temp? Are you serious above moving down south?
PS Can't remember if you ice fish or not.

Better than I did. I hit a small creek for an hour that wasn't too tough going so my 15 year old dog could come along. Landed all of 2 cutts of about 13 inches each. Both went up to the surface and pretty much spun in circles. My 1 wt was way overkill. The snow was melting and the road sucked. Got to wash off the mud caked to my car tomorrow.
I'm down in Washington County 5 days for Thanksgiving. Just got 6 new poppers plus some salt flies in the mail today (Big Y flies having sale through Veteran's Day). Will have to remember to try those poppers out down there.

I'll admit I'm a wee bit jealous. That looks like a ton of fun. I doubt I'll be catching bass on topwater for at least another six months. I think I'm going to take one more bass fishing trip tomorrow, but it's likely to involve jerkbaits with really long pauses, drop shots, and a couple pairs of wool socks.

I already moved down here, so there's nothing for it. I pretty much sold my ice fishing gear, but kept the auger, two shanty's, a heater and a few rods. So, actually, I didn't really get rid of anything. I don't know how much ice fishing I'll manage this year, but I bet I make more than a few trips up north this year. Yuba is on my radar already...

Nice pictures, I had fun with that same color poppers all summer, from sunrise to about an hour after at DC, this year.

Ya, they are kind of pricey, but just like anything else, you get what you pay for. It was heart wrenching to lose that lure on a big fish -- expensive lure, but mostly because the hooks he uses are so sharp that there is no way that that bass was getting that popper out of its mouth. Hope he at least washes up to the shore for some schmo to find the lure, and some seagull to find the fish.

Yeah they are a little expensive but they are all hand carved and painted rather than just a plastic molded lure. I think its pretty fair for the amount of work it takes. Plus I like to support local guys like that. That sucks about the big one breaking off though!

Awesome fish! I was there that same day, and had a tournament in the morning. It was a good day of for fishing sand hollow! Wish I would of had the fore site to throw a topwater! Here was my first bag of fish I caught on saturday. The fish are still hoping out there go out there and crush some!

Nice work on those bass. I live here in St. Geezy too so if you ever need a fishing buddy, let me know. Kolob, Panguitch and Minersville are pretty close. I also just bought a 15' aluminum boat just for those lakes (of course Sandhollow and Quail).
