Tip up question.
#1
Jawjackers vs Automatic fisherman?

Anybody have experience with both, and have a personal preference? I have some jawjackers and had good success with them last winter, but am wondering if the grass is greener on the other side?

Best success was for trout of all species, but a few perch and a pike came to hand last year, although the hook up ratio was lower. I did okay for burbot with them as well.

Still prefer to fish with perch with rod in hand using a camera, while rigging the jacker for larger quarry.

There is only one tip up for Utah Waters Brother. Jaw Jacker. The grass is not greener - End of story.
2nd best thing to me.

I love my jaw jacker especially when I got a 2 pole permit. Toss one rod on the jaw jacker then wonder a little farther to check other spots. Had many success with jaw jacker. One time at Starvation my buddy and I fell a sleep my jaw jacker snapped up then my rod in my hand went all crazy bending. Pulled out 2 big rainbows [Smile].

Caught from small dinky perch, bows, and ect species on them.

If your going to a lake with smaller fish or catching smaller guy's just adjust the sensitive nob depends on size of fish.

I have experience with both. I first purchased the Automatic Fisherman and used it a few seasons. i bought the Jawjacker last year and it is all i use. the Automatic fisherman seems to miss more fish than the Jawjacker. i think it might have to do with sensitivity. The Automatic is more difficult to get to the exact sensitivity i want.

Jaw jacker do not do very well with heavier baits, IE whole chubs etc.

I had terrible luck with automatic fisherman- it always misses. So I asked Santa for a Jaw jacker this year.

I know you asked for info from those that have experience with both but I can only provide input on the Jawjacker. That being said I have been extremely impressed and love it for my second dead stick pole so I can concentrate on my jigging pole. I would say hook up rate of 80% on triggered sets. Probably better hook up rate then pole in my hand but I'm getting slower in my old age [Smile]

I have asked for a jaw jacket or two this Xmas... Everything I've read says jaw jacket takes the round. I personally can't wait, wanted one last year and didn't get it so Santa owes me 2!

Ha ha ha [laugh].

The jack jackers are really nice if you set one then wonder around with your other pole if you got a 2 pole permit. Caught some big perch and bows on them at starvation last year.

Gotta have two pole permit for ice fishing. I'm hoping to get some big trout on the jacker. A guy on my team for the burbot bash last year had a jacker and caught a tagged burbot so I love them, his jacker but I pulled the fish cause he got bored and wandered around. So I want one, especially to find some fish. I hit causey, and gorge a lot in the winter so need that big trout this year.. Mentally ready lol
